The famous Lufthansa crane is back!
Aviationtag has been a proud partner to Lufthansa and part of the hugely successful Lufthansa Upcycling Edition for many years now. We are thrilled to now be able to present another Aviationtag edition of our own though – officially licensed by Lufthansa of course: The former Airbus A340-600 D-AIHR!
In February 2007, the A340 with MSN 794 was delivered to the German flag carrier and after less than 10 years in Lufthansa’s service was retired again in 2016. In 2019 the D-AIHR embarked on its final journey and now continues to fly around the world as an Aviationtag on the suitcases and bags of many a traveler!
The Airbus A340-600: The A340-600 is 12 m longer than an A340 -300, more than 4 m longer than the Boeing 747-400 and even 2.3 m longer than the A380. It held the record for the world’s longest commercial aircraft until the first flight of the Boeing 747-8 in February 2010. The maximum take off weight is 360 tons including a cargo volume of up to 201.7 m3.
The Aviationtags are 100% authentic original airplane skin. The origin of the material can be traced back seamlessly all the way to when the plane was first sold and the customers are supplied with important and interesting information on aircraft history in the form of our (b)logbook.
The tags are Made in Germany and for the most part are painstakingly crafted by hand right at the small manufacture in Cologne – where they love to turn something old and wonderful into something new and wonderful.
Each tag is one of a kind with a unique serial number. This allows Aviationtag to step in with its “Lost & Found” service to help reunite you with your Aviationtag if you ever lose it.
The white paint of the D-AIHR is rather dissimilar, so that the laser etching might look uneven.
